No, these were original and produced several years ago but discontinued after a short run. I can't find any of the original posts on these, but from what I recall, they were fairly economical and most collectors reported they worked well. Can't remember the last time I saw one on the "used" market.

I'm sure someone with a better memory can fill you in!

All true. Just to add onto the "economical" part, I believe the bases were chromed plastic and the bulb holders are about as bare-bones as you can be. Never heard any complaints about durability though. Definitely not worth $200 because it's not vintage, nor are the parts worth that much.

Anyway, here's a video of one working.

A side note of interest. The magnetic base on this light was patented in 1975 by Robert D. Kayler, who also patented the Car Cap, a large baseball style cap you see on the roof of NAPA trucks still today.

Thanks for the information. I find it interesting a company is / was recently producing a rotating beacon with a round top dome like beacons from the 50's & 60's. Is the magnetic base on that light original or would that have been a custom upgrade done by the end user?

Those magnetic bases, which are very heavy duty, appear to be a Baader-Brown produced device. I have one that was on an early Federal 14, but it came from Kettering where Baader-Brown is located and was obviously added after market.

There are collectors who want one. I sold a red domed BB on Ebay just a few months ago and it went for over $250, so they can bring decent money.
