Greetings All!

http://s269.photobucket.com/albums/jj49/C17LVFD/Acura%20TL%20Phase%202/

I have now neared completion of PHASE 2 for the car A lot has been changed up, and Im ecstatic with how its turned out!!

Let me say as a preface The lights on this car are to give perspective customers ideas about what could be done to their vehicle. I do installations on the side, and potential customers always want to see my work before we start a project. So I decided to make DEMO vehicle instead of just showing them pictures.

My state only allows lighting for the Chief, Dep. Chief, Asst. Chief and highest ranking EMS officer of each department. So I cannot and DO NOT use lights or sirens on the road, or under ANY circumstances! I am however a FF/Paramedic here in Maryland, and a Flight Paramedic in MD/DC/ & PA. You might ask why do the project? I wanted a DEMO vehicle for my potential customers to see the quality of my work

The lighting design I did myself. All the mounting and wiring of the lights were done myself.

The guys at Driven Dynamics, LLC in Rockville, MD were instrumental in the carputer installation. In addition, the guys at ERM & Priority One Emergency have been FANTASTIC in helping with pricing, quick shipment and PHENOMINAL customer service!!! Thanks Guys & Gals!!

The car is a 2006 Acura TL AT.

Rear Warning:
- 1 Whelen Slimlighter TIR6 R/R (Upper rear windshield)
- 2 Whelen Quad Dominators linked together R/R/R/R/R/R/R/R
- 2 Whelen TIR 6s Split Red/Amber inside the trunk
- 2 NOVA X1100 LAWs in the Backup Lights A/A
- 2 SoundOff Inc LAWs in the tail lights R/R (To be Added)

The rear is running of a Whelen ULF44 Primary pattern is Action Flash (Synchronized), Secondary Pattern is Moduflash (Unsynchronized)

Side Warning:
- MicroMax XTR Linear-9 LED R/W/R (mounted in rear window on each side) (Independent Flasher on Action Flash)

Front Warning:
- 2 SoundOff Inc Ultralites in the Headliner R/R/R/W/W/R/R/R (Mounted on SoundOff CVPI headliner brackets via sun visor mounts)
- 1 SoundOff Inc Ultralite on the dash R/W/W/R with quick disconnect
- 2 SoundOff Inc Ghosts R/W on the dash @ 45 degrees for intersection warning (To be Added)
- 2 Sound Off Inc Ghosts R/R in the upper grill
- 2 Axixtech Xtreme Linear 4 R/R mounted in the lower grill @ 45 degrees
- 2 SoundOff Inc LAWs W/W Mounted in fog lights (To be Added)
- 2 SoundOff Inc LAWs R/R Mounted in the front corner turn signals (To be Added)

All front lighting is run off of 2 Whelen ULF44s. One for Red lights and One for White lights. Both are set to the exact same patterns as the ULF44 in the rear, Primary pattern is Action Flash (Synchronized), Secondary Pattern is Moduflash (Unsynchronized)

Siren / Switch Panel

- Federal Signal SS2000 without Signal Master
- Federal Signal Dynamax MS100 speaker
- Federal Signal SS2000 Remote Touch Screen conversion software
- Carson Volunteer SC-1012 which is run through the SS2000
- Sound Off Inc 100D low profile speaker
- In addition, the car has two momentary switches, one in the console for the airhorn, and to scroll through the siren tones, and a foot pedal for the momentary button on the Carson siren for the electronic mechanical tone.

Radios/ Scanner
- Motorola Astro Spectra 110Watt VHF mobile with HHCH
- Motorola Astro Spectra 800Mhz mobile with HHCH
- Antenna Specialist Antennas

The goal of this car was to be completely stealth. I wanted everything to look as stock as possible. I didnt want to draw a lot of attention to it until I want the attention, IE car shows and showing my customers.

I wanted the interior to be as uncluttered as possible and I wanted a navigation system which I opted not to get when I purchased the car.

The carputer was put in to do GPS navigation, music, videos, DVDs, WiFi, control all lighting and siren functions. The carputer is also FULLY integrated into the stereo. My IPOD and carputer stereo
The trunk tray is completed, with a custom made radio/siren/wire tray.

Enjoy! Any constructive comments and feedback are always welcomed!
To see Phase 1 of the vehicle go to http://s269.photobucket.com/albums/jj49/C17LVFD/Acura%20TL%20Phase%201/
To see other installs done by me go to http://s269.photobucket.com/albums/jj49/C17LVFD/

Thanks!
Seth

Thank you for all the wonderful compliments!!

To answer some questions....
Specs on the Carputer...

1.66Ghz Intel Duo Processor
512mb Ram
120gb HD
256mb graphics
built in sound and wireless a/b/g
DVD RW
7\" touchscreen.
USB hub in center console

To do the Touchscreen setup you need...

- Computer... preferably a laptop or computer made for a vehicle... Desktops don't do well with the vibration of a vehicle...

Minimum running requirements....

Pentium 450Mhz
Windows 98
64mb of ram
15mb of HD space
CD drive
USB or serial port.

- Federal Signal SS2000... As far as I know all SS2000's will work with the touchscreen appliation.

- Federal Signal SS2000 TouchScreen Application. The kit comes with all hardware and software... Also, you can program your SS2000 from the computer instead of having to program it from the original touchpad. All buttons on the touchscreen can have the text edited...

It's simple to install... Just follow the instructions... The Touchscreen kit runs about $150.00...

Thanks!

Where did you get the computer / touchscreen parts?
Was the computer some sort of vehicle kit?

Very nice!

Ryan,

I had my friends at Driven Dynamics LLC hook me up... http://www.drivendynamics.com/ I let them take care of getting the parts... They have done carputer installs on multiple TL's and other vehicles... They know the carPC business in and out...

www.mp3car.com is a great place to start though... Look under the store... People post their projects similiar to here on ELB.

The SS2000 TouchScreen is a kit that gives you the hardware and software to make it work... All you need is the SS2000... I got the SS2000 TouchScreen Kit from PW Service Center for about $150.00.... www.pwservice.com

That looks really pro, nice job.
Is the computer all in dash? Did you replace the factory nav system or how did the install work in that regard?

The CPU is in the trunk, the touchscreen is the only thing in the passenger compartment. I didn't get a factory Nav system. This was in place of it... I took the factory HVAC and XM screen and moved it, right infront of the shifter, and put the touchscreen where the factory HVAC and XM screen had been...

Here are my videos... I'll try to get better ones up when I can...

Thank you all for all the wonderful feedback!
Seth

I am torn. I want to whine about it not being an American car...but you won me over with the install. Hands down, the most seamless install on the interior of any vehicle I have seen. The carputer, with touch screen controls looks factory!! Awesome job!!

I'm just wondering the details on the scanner set up. Was it a kit and if not, how much did it all cost? Also, where's the antenna for it?

Good Evening Everyone!!

Thank you for all your positive comments and questions! It's a wonderful feeling to have one's work appreciated! Thank You!

To answer questions...

Justin,

I did sync the quad dominators, and TIR6 in the headliner... I noticed in my video it looks like they are not synced... I think it has to do with the refresh time on my camera. When you watch them in real life, they're synced.... All 4 grill lights are also synced together... and the LS12 is on it's own... In the rear the two TIR6's are synced and the Slimlighter is running on its own...

Parkpiggy,

Sorry about the import. When I was looking for a new car, the TL just kept getting my attention... It has been BY FAR the most difficult car to do an install on... Incredibly well put together, which has made working on it a bear!

Krol and Phillippe,

I bought the Scanner (Uniden BCD96t) and the remote head (Uniden RH-96) separately. The scanner runs about $500.00 and the remote head about another $200.00... The wiring for the remote head was run behind the remote head into the headliner... The bracket was drilled into the roof... The data wire was run across the headliner and down the B-Pillar, and under the seat into the center console. The power wire was run similarly, but run back into the trunk, so that the remote head comes on with my ignition. The scanners antenna wire, external speaker wire and power wires were all run up through the center console. Hope that helps!

Thanks!
Seth
