    Whelen traffic Advisor bar info

I have several 500 series LIN6 modules and Liberty style holders for the same. I am entertaining the idea of using them to build a traffic advisor like the Whelen TANF85 - basically a dominator with 500 series lights instead of TIR3's or similar.

I have a few questions though if anyone knows the answers:

    1. How are the lights held into the frame? The same plastic holders as used in Liberty's or different?

    2. Are the lights flashed by the Whelen control head such as the TACTLD1 or TADCTL1 alone or are these just used to activate additional circuit boards in the lightbar itself?

If it is more than the control head, which I already have, any recommendations to try and accomplish this on a reasonable budget? I don't want to spend more than I could just buy a TDA bar for, even if it is smaller, just to say I did it.

Also, I have a post in the "Wanted" section, but if you are a dealer and have access to parts, I would need prices on:

    1. TANF85 frame with slide bolt mounting style. Black if available.
    2. Standard 15' length of (8) strand wire for operation.
    3. Light holders if different than Liberty style

    Thanks in advance,

    RK

You shouldn't need the 500 series holders, the lighthead itself has tabs that will slid intop the frame of the T/A Body. The light holders for the Liberty/LFL frames are to make the light heads sit "flush" with the rest of the bar

The lights are controlled by the T/A Control lead... You would need to set all of your heads to Steady Burn. And you would need to use the LED T/A control head.

And the T/A cable is a 9 wire cable. All the lights share a common power, they there are the 8 grounds that corrospond to the 8 lights in the T/A.

No you would not. I am using a TACTRL1A with a TAM83 and it works just fine. I don't care for the ADD hyper-patterns of the TACTLD1.

True... But I was thinking more for the low power mode, not all the patterns... Using a standard T/A controller both the low power and the regular power modes will illuminate the LEDs to full power...

It doesn't cut the intensity in half but it does reduce it (albeit only a little, the TIR3 drivers do a good job of keeping up). The TACTLD would arguably do a better job of dimming.
