Code 3 Defender won’t change patterns

Iv got a full size Code 3 Defender Tricore Dual color Lightbar. Following the instructions I have found on line, I can not get the bar to change patters on any of the warning modes L1-2-3 and any combo. The black/red pattern change wire will only work changing functions on the secondary options such as arrow, flashing alleys, etc. what am I doing wrong. I always have problems with code 3 LEDs stuff, the last good LEDs products they made where LEDX and Optix. Everything newer than that has been problems.

Is it the magnet one? Some defenders need a magnet applied by the side alleys for patterns to change.
